A Dick & Jane Primer for Adults
Cannibals and gangsters. Prisoners and miners. Victims, and killers. In A Dick & Jane Primer for Adults, the perennially prepubescent Dick and Jane, America's favourite children, have finally grown up. And it's a bad world out there. From a futuristic prison in Adam Roberts' Dick Does Time, to a claustrophobic mining community in Conrad Williams' The Hushes, Dick and Jane and their friends, Jack and Mike and Penny and Pam, discover that life isn't safe - even behind a white picket fence.
My first anthology, A Dick & Jane Primer for Adults, has just been published by the British Fantasy Society as a for-members-only publication. Copies should be out with the June mailing of the BFS. All stories are between 500-1000 words, in the tradition of the old Dick & Jane primers.
The contributing authors include: James Lovegrove, Adam Roberts, Liz Williams, Roger Levy, Conrad Williams, Chris Butler, Neil Ayres, Ed Clayton, Marion Arnott and Richard Kunzmann.
Introduction by Jeff VanderMeer, and cover and internal illustrations by John Keates.
It took a considerable amount of time and agony to get this published, and I am very grateful to the BFS for taking this on. This won't be for general sale, however.
I can also confirm that I am working on a new anthology project, for a late 2009 release. Something I am quite excited about, but won't discuss just yet...
